Frequently Asked Questions
Product
Our toilet paper is made from 100% bamboo fibres and we do not add any chemicals such as bleach, perfume or binding agents. This makes the paper feel extra soft against your skin, while at the same time being stronger than wood pulp paper. So you can count on comfort for everyday use without it tearing easily.
Bamboi has 2.5 times more paper on each roll than the average brand of toilet paper. That means fewer toilet roll cores being thrown away, less packaging material, and fewer transport movements to get the same number of metres of paper to your home.
Each roll has 3 layers of paper, 380 sheets and a length of no less than 41.8 metres, which is considerably more than a standard roll. This means that one box of Bamboi equals much more convenience and less transport.
You can choose from three sizes:
Box with 48 rolls ≈ 125 regular rolls
Box with 24 rolls ≈ 63 regular rolls Box with 12 rolls ≈ 32 regular rolls This means there is always a size to suit your household, while you can be sure you will never run out.
Our rolls are two and a half times longer than a standard roll. This means you don't have to change them as often and a box lasts much longer. Of course, usage varies from household to household, depending on how many people there are and how intensively the toilet paper is used. The guideline below is based on average usage:
Household | 24 rolls | 48 rolls
1 to 2 | ± 12 weeks | ± 24 weeks
3 to 4 | ± 8 weeks | ± 16 weeks
5 to 6 | ± 4 weeks | ± 8 weeks
Yes, our rolls fit standard toilet roll holders. The rolls are longer because they contain more paper, but the diameter is the same as most regular rolls. So you can use them in your current holder without any worries.
The wrapper is made of bamboo and painted with vegetable oils. The core of the roll is also made of bamboo. Both can therefore best be disposed of with waste paper.
Our toilet paper is individually wrapped in a bamboo kraft paper wrapper, printed with vegetable oils. This wrapper keeps our toilet paper clean and soft and is an organic alternative to plastic. The cardboard boxes are custom-made by our supplier and serve directly as a logistical aid. This way we save on extra packaging.
Fun fact: The Bamboi rolls are packaged in four different colors that can be stacked. Each color represents a different phase of bamboo growth.

Sustainability
Bamboi grows and is produced in China, in Sichuan province, home to the largest bamboo forests in the world. The bamboo industry is mainly based in Asia, because there are ample supplies of local raw materials and a long tradition of bamboo cultivation and processing. As a result, there is a wealth of specialist knowledge about the sustainable processing of bamboo.
We work with a manufacturer that attaches great importance to good employment practices, sustainability, certifications and efficient production processes. You can find more information about this under the heading “Certificates”.
I can hear you thinking, “all the way from China”? However, transport has a relatively small impact. A container ship from Asia can carry up to 20,000 containers at a time. The CO₂ emissions from this are comparable to only 700 to 900 km of transport by lorry within Europe. This means that transport accounts for only about 5% of the total footprint of our product on average.
A logical question! Our toilet paper is produced in China, where the largest bamboo forests in the world grow. It is therefore no coincidence that there is a wealth of knowledge here about sustainable processing, thanks to a centuries-old tradition of bamboo processing. By producing close to the source, we also save on the transport of raw materials and can carry out processing more efficiently.
Bamboo grows extremely fast and needs little water and no chemicals.
During growth, bamboo stores a lot of CO2 due to its high carbon storage capacity.
When the Bamboo reaches its storage limit and thus the end of its life, the bamboo is harvested. During harvesting, the bamboo roots remain in the ground and the bamboo grows back naturally. The growth process can start again.
We transform the harvested Bamboo, full of stored CO2, into toilet paper.
No chemicals are used in the entire process of making Bamboi products, so each Bamboi product consists only of bamboo and water.
The result is a 100% organic toilet roll with negative CO2 emissions that is completely free from deforestation.
Bamboi is cheaper than most premium brands, but slightly more expensive than standard store brands. So you get the quality of premium toilet paper, but at a fair price and with sustainability in mind. A roll of Bamboi® with a subscription costs €0.94 and is 42 meters long. Normal toilet paper is on average 15 meters long and costs €0.39. In comparison, a 15-meter roll of Bamboi® toilet paper would cost €0.35. So you save money.
To give you a better idea, on average you pay €0.2659 for 100 sheets. This average is based on 26 different brands of toilet paper. With a subscription, our toilet paper costs €0.2533 per 100 sheets. This makes us 5% cheaper than the average toilet paper.
In addition, our rolls are delivered to your home in climate-neutral, plastic-free packaging: no more lugging heavy packs from the supermarket, just convenience delivered to your door.
The big question… do you have a minute?
Recycled toilet paper is made from old paper products such as receipts and packaging. The advantage is that used paper finds a new purpose. The major disadvantages of recycling are that a lot of water and chemicals are needed to clean the old paper. These chemicals can be extremely harmful to both nature and the user. When recycled paper ends up in the soil or in the water, it damages our environment.
Bamboi's paper is unbleached, free from added chemicals, and therefore a 100% organic product. An organic product is biodegradable, meaning that it can break down in nature without harming it with chemicals. Water usage varies by manufacturer but ranges from 2.5-75L per roll compared with 1.75L per roll for Bamboi.
Furthermore, recycled paper stores little to no CO2. Bamboo, on the other hand, absorbs a lot of CO2 and will remain in the paper until it decomposes in nature, for example in the sewer or on a landfill. The emissions from producing Bamboi paper are also minimal. Because no chemicals are used, we bypass many processes compared to recycled paper. With Bamboi's products, we contribute to a more sustainable world in this way.
Yes, Bamboi toilet paper is 100% biodegradable. It consists solely of bamboo fibers and contains no bleaching agents, perfume, or other chemicals. This makes it not only safe for nature, but also a healthier choice for your skin.
An added bonus: Bamboi paper is also compostable. You can even throw the paper in your compost bin, where it will return completely to nature.
Our paper disintegrates quickly in water and can therefore be flushed without any problems in virtually any toilet and sewage system.
Yes. Bamboi toilet paper is designed to dissolve quickly. Bamboo fibers are naturally softer and break down faster than wood pulp paper. This reduces the risk of blockages and puts less strain on the system.
For healthy bacterial activity in the tank, we recommend using unbleached paper without added perfumes or lotions. Bamboi meets these requirements, so that the natural decomposition process in the tank is not disrupted.
Because every system is different, we recommend starting with small quantities or testing the product with a trial pack. In short, bamboo toilet paper-provided it is unbleached and free of additives, as is the case with Bamboi®-is a sustainable and safe choice for virtually all septic systems.
