What are PFAS?

These substances hardly break down in the environment, which is why they have earned the nickname "forever chemicals". They are present in low concentrations in clothing, furniture, packaging, cosmetics, and even in food and water.

Although toilet paper is mostly associated with hygiene and comfort, some types can contribute to PFAS pollution. This is concerning since toilet paper is an everyday product. When toilet paper containing PFAS is flushed, these chemicals can enter the wastewater and eventually pollute the environment.
